hi, well 2 nights ago i was using my laptop fine n i went to turn it off and for some reason i think it was frozen i cant remeber, i turned it off by the button. when i went to turn it on the next day. i got a message saying windows was not shutdown properly:
then got the options start in safe mode
safe mode wth networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configuration
start windows normally
so i tried to start it as last good configuartaion n got nuffin. it goes to wear the bar goes across n says windows vista but then it restarts itself. so i tried safe mode. but no matter which one i picked it would restart itself. i even tried puttin the recovery disk in but still it wouldnt load that.
please please pleasee help me if u can i need to get this fixed its so annoying im usually on my laptop everyday.

See if using the start windows normally option will work for you. If not, then see if you can run a startup repair to see if it may be able to fix the problem for you.
hi, i tried start windows normally with no success,it just restarts itself. and i dont have a recovery disc or partition so cant do that startup repair. i burnt a recover disk from neosmart but when i put it in it goes to a black screen with just a arrow n stays there. should i try do that n leave it overnight or something to see if it loads?
No, it should go into the System Recovery Options screen shortly afte booting from the DVD. Did you make a 64-bit recovery disc and not a 32-bit one by mistake?
In the worst case scenario, you may need to restore your computer back to the OEM factory default installation from the recovery partition. This will wipe everything out and reinstall the Vista back like it was the first time you got your laptop though.
i thought i was supposed to make a 32bit one? cause thats wat i made
and i tried reinstalling it back factory but i get the smae problem, it goes to a black screen with jsut an arrow.
should i make a 64 disc and try that?

If you have created a set of OEM Recovery installation DVDs from your laptop, then you may be able to use them instead to restore Vista back to factory settings.
If not, then what brand and model is your laptop, and I'll be happy to take a look and see what I can hopefully find at the manufacturer's website that may be able to help.
sparks: i cant start it in safe mode
Brink: i put the vista recovery disk in and it goes "press any key to boot from cd" so i press any key then is goes to windows is loading files and the abr goes across.then it goes to the part where the green bar goes across the bottom in the centre that says windows vista then it jsut goes to a black screen with a arrow n i can move the arrow around.
do u think i should put in the disk n jsut leave it overnight to see if it loads or something?
UPDATE: i just turned my laptop on as i was going to try to put the recovery disk in again. and i got a blue screen saying utility bios recovery tool. it said it was flashin the bios. then it said bios flashed asuccesfully
powering down in 2 seconds
then it turned off
then i turned it back on n it did it again
so i let it turn off n wnet to turn it back on n got a green power light on the computer but the comptuer didnt turn on.
should i hold the buttom down to turn it off then try turning it back on?

noppee. i turned it on and asus came up, then it went bam n blue screen came up n started flashing i dunno. but now its a blank screen n the processors doin nufffin but theres power to the laptop cause the green light is on but the power aint on. wat should i do?

no this is wat its at now. its got a black screen and nuffin happenening cause the processeor light is doin anything. the only reason i know its on is casue teh green power light is on n thats on when the laptop is on or when the power is plugged in n the power aint pluged in so the laptop must be on. should i turn it off by the button then try pressing f2?
Go ahead and restart and press F2 to see if you can enter the BIOS screen. If not, then your BIOS may have just been toasted when the flashing was interrupted or something.
You will need to take it in to a Asus service center to have the BIOS chip reset or replaced if this is the case.
far out!!!!!!!!!!! now it wont turn at all. i turn it on n all i get is teh power light. i can hear the laptop like running but screen wont turn on n the processor light aint comin on. any help?? i am really starting to feel like smashing this stupid laptop
That's what I was afraid of. It looks like the BIOS may be toast. You will most likely need to take it in to a Asus service center to have the BIOS chip reset or replaced.
If it was a desktop, I would say to cross the CMOS jumper pins to see if that may reset the BIOS. That is not an easy task to do on a laptop though, and is not recommended to attempt.
The safest thing to do is to take it into a computer repair shop and let them test the BIOS chip for you since they will have the proper equipment to do so and repair it.
