Ever since my last format I've been experiencing some strange CPU usage and memory allocation problems when I load programs.
What's happening is that I'll click to load a program, say iTunes, and when I look at the task manager I see that between 45-50% of the CPU is used and the memory is slowly allocated...maybe 100-200kb/sec. After about 3-5 minutes the program loads and it'll run smooth 90% of the time, the other 10% it might freeze or just slowly keep allocating memory.
This doesn't happen for all programs and seems mostly isolated to iTunes and the Steam client. I don't have a whole lot of programs that I use regularly on this computer so those would be the only programs I could really fault.
Firefox and Internet Explorer will do it at random, usually after viewing anything flash related (ie: youtube videos). In the case of the browsers, things start running painfully slow and the only cure is a restart. This generally effects the whole system and after it happens ALL of my programs will run at a slow pace.
I began to experience this slightly before the format; but since then it has just gotten worse. I have installed all of the updates, updated all of my drivers and still nothing. I have killed all non-essential services and even went so far as disabling indexing, system restore, defender and the firewall...with no effect. I rolledback to Flash 9.0 and this 'seems' to have fixed my issues with the browsers but not sure whats going on with the other programs.
