Reformat vista home premium

I tried to reformat vista home P. I followed all the steps to get to the advance boot option, selected Repair Your Computer, It went directly to log me on, there was no click Dell Factory Image Restore, no Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory conditions. It took me to the standard log on window. I tried this 3 times with no luck for a reformat to factory condition. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

You may have corrupted the Boot into the Recovery Partition.

What system model do you have I can give the recovery boot info- but If this has been corrupted, It will not allow you to boot into the Recovery Partition.

Have you tried using a Vista DVD to re-install?

Hi,

If you have the Dell dvd, use that as Rive0108 says.

If you don't have the dvd, you should be able to boot into the recovery partition by marking it as active.

Rive0108 has provided a partition tool and iso burner - d/l from here:

Burn it to cd with the isoburner ( do not format the cd - if autoplay pops up , just close it).

On the non starting pc, Boot from the cd ( at startup watch the black screen with white writing - it will say press F11 or other F number for pop-up boot menu. When it pops up, arrow to cdrom drive , put the cd in , press Enter - it will ask again - press any key to boot from cdrom - press Enter again).

When it has loaded, right click the recovery partition ( should be 6 - 9gb ), and mark as Active . That may be under a rt. click sub menu Advanced.

Remove the cd and Restart.

Yes, I used the reinstallation DVD, but no luck, I'm using vista home premium 32 bit on Dell Dimension E520. My orginal from the factory was vista home premium, Presently I have vista business, but I want to go back to home premium.

By installing Business you wiped out the recovery partition on the C: Drive containing Premium- Your lucky though, you still have the Premium product key, right? You can re-install Premium with any disk and activate it with your Product key.
