Windows Sidebar has stopped working

Hi Brink,
I've had a look at the solutions for this but they haven't helped. I think this is related to the IE8 update/upgrade.

If you installed IE8 its more than likely due to jscript.dll not registering properly during the install. Kapsersky internet security caused this problem for me. My sidebar crashed evertime it was executed and IE8 64 would crash as well. You must disable KIS before registering the above .dll.

1. Turn off KAV by right-clicking on the systray icon and select exit. 2. open the command prompt: Start menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt. 3. Type regsvr32 jscript.dll and hit Enter. 4. Done! You should restart you AV now :)

I had to come back to this as it cost me a bit of time to reinstall my OS again.
Please remember to disconnect from the internet before you shut down your internet security as you will be attacked by malicious software. I was and lost a completely fresh new OS which i had just completed all updates on...Hours and hours lost!:cry:

Your plan to exit KAV switches off the firewall. If you were to realise that you would not have replied...

Sorry, I just assume that everyone is behind routers these days :o Sorry your fresh install got hosed. In my defense, KAV doesn't come with a firewall, only KIS and nothing was stopping you from enabling Vista's built in firewall during the process.
