pc shuts down at startup

hi. first post here so i dont really know where to ask this. first off: im using a borrowed laptop to post this because my PC wont stay started at all.

system specs that i can remember off the top of my head:

geforce 9600 gt
8gb ram
acer motherboard
5 fans (all are working..including the powersupply and processor)

my pc was working fine till yesterday. I bought an hdtv (31inch sanyo) and tried to use it as my monitor (probably stupid i guess). it worked fine for a few hours then my pc just shut down on its own. i tried to restart it a few times but it kept shutting down(sometimes it got to the loading screen with the vista symbol and shut down, sometimes it got to the options screen to boot in safe mode and shut down, sometimes it got loaded all the way and just shut off) i removed the TV from my pc and hooked my normal monitor back up (samsung symchmaster 226 bw) but the pc still wont boot up.

I did update windows yesterday though, too. there was a .net framework update that i installed, but i did a rollback the one time my pc stayed started long enough to because i kinda thought that might have caused a problem, but the rollback didnt help. my pc just wont stay started very log at all, it wont even get past the vista logo before shutting down.

could using the hdtv have corrupted my video card drivers, or is my power supply dieing? or something completely different? please help..this pc isnt even 3 months old yet and i cant afford to buy another one

I ordered it online through newegg. id rather try to get it fixed without having to go through the hassle of sending it in if i can.

since it was working fine till the .net update and using the tv for a monitor...what could the problem be? any ideas?

It could be a lot of things

Most likely though would be overheating do you get any warning messages?

Try removing the side panel, if you have a ventilator set it to blow cold air into the case

Control that the CPU fan is running continuously

for the few seconds it does stay on all the fans are working though.

Check that the CPU fan is sitting properly you should not be able to move it DO NOT use to much force

all the fans are turning, and nothing is bent on the plugs.
