I accidently bought the older retail version of Vista (pre SP1) with the misunderstanding that you can install 32 or 64 bit from it. However the box says that is only 32 and inside is info on how to get 64 dvd's with possibly additional fees. I have not opened it and can return it, but only with 15% restock fees.
I am building a new computer and definetly need 64-bit. I bought the older version because it was much cheaper and SP1 is a free update anyway.
Does anyone know what it takes or costs to get 64 dvd from microsoft if you bought a 32 bit retail licensed box?
Any other advice would be great. I only have a few days to return it so please help me. THANKS!
However, if you have no plans on installing the 32-bit Vista, then I would recommend that you go ahead and exchange the one you bought instead. They may not charge you anything for an exchange instead of a return and refund.
