Microsoft Management Console and Patched Theme Files?

I have Windows Vista Premium 32-bit.

Recently, I noticed that I can't use Disk Management, Device Manager, or any other Management Console items after I patched to allow for custom themes. I have tested it several times. Whenever I replace shsvcs.dll with a patched one that allows custom themes, I can no longer use MMC. Is there any known workaround for this?

There is indeed a workaround for this: don't replace system binaries with dodgy DLLs from l33t haxx0rz, lest you should cause those processes which load the DLLs in question to crash with access violations galore :)

Conversely, if you doctor system DLLs, expect crashes. Software development is not entirely trivial.

Well, unfortunately, there seems to be no other way to use custom themes from the internet, without patching said DLLs.
