Machine won't hibernate after installing SLED 10

Hi guys,
I recently installed SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10.2 and now when I go into Vista and click the hibernate feature, my screen turns off for about a minute, lights stay on, then my log on screen comes, just as it would if I turned my computer on after hibernation. Please help!


Also, when GRUB boot loader gives me the OS Choices, how can I set "Windows" as default? Right now, SLED is default.

Hi Computer Age,

It may try to wake the computer from hibernation if there is any activity in your network card or if there is any external device is connected to your USB Port.

Try this.

Device manager settings:
Click start > type > "device manager" and Enter > right click on network Adapter and "USB Root Hub" and click on properties > Go to "Power Management" tab > Uncheck "allow this device to wake the computer".

Thanks Kernel, I tried but my network adapter and USB Root Hub ports all have that unchecked. Another question, how do I get my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card to work with SUSE? I have been trying... I installed the drivers which told me to install the stack... I tried to install the stack via command line. I forgot the commands... oh yes:

linux7~cso- tar ieee80211-1.2.16.tgz
file not found


Or some error message like that... my ethernet card works (REALTEK)

Anyway, for the hibernation question, please help me!!! Also I solved the default boot system as "MICROSOFT WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM" on dev/sda/hda1

I think the problem is that the GRUB Boot Loader won't let Vista save the session... SUSE can hibernate. I just want to make Vista hibernate with SUSE installed. I don't care if SUSE can't hibernate. EasyBCD has an error when I try using it. Please, please help me!

Try to run Disk Cleanup to remove Hibernation file and check. Try this command from command prompt if hibernation is disabled: "powercfg -h on"

Do you have SP1 installed ?
Change/Reset the power plan and let me know.

Try BIOS Reset or Update

Nah, I tried EVERYTHING. I have all the updates and SP1. I'm pretty sure it's because GRUB won't let Vista save the session to the BOOT section of the hard disk. My BCDEDIT wont work because Windows can't find the boot configuration data store. EasyBCD and The BCDEDIT tool won't work. I am stuck. SUSE and Vista are working fine otherwise. SUSE can hibernate, though. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help.
