First, I apologize if I am posting in the wrong forum. I am new to vista forums. If I need to post elsewhere, please let me know.
I have done the steps that I found on posts here to allow winhlp32.exe to work on Vista Business 32bit. I installed KB917607. After that I was getting the message "There was a problem running the macro. (1307)". I then installed the registry fix:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WinHelp]
"AllowProgrammaticMacros"=dword:00000001
"AllowIntranetAccess"=dword:00000001
Now when I access help, I get a message "Microsoft Help has stopped working"
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: winhlp32.exe
Application Version: 50.0.6000.16387
Application Timestamp: 45d8c101
Fault Module Name: StackHash_1967
Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000
Exception Offset: 0000000a
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Data: 00000008
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.6
Locale ID: 1033
Additional Information 1: 1967
Additional Information 2: ee6d101dfa118c11079be35c96a1e371
Additional Information 3: c938
Additional Information 4: 064991e40112fa9e6ef802ddeec327ff
If I remove the WinHelp registry entry or just change "AllowProgrammaticMacros" to 0, it goes back to giving the macro 1037 error.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Sandi
