Hello:

My system is a Vista Ultimate 64-bit with 12 Gb installed physical memory,
however, on the system summary under system information it only shows 3.99 Gb of TOTAL Physical memory.
Why is vista not able to recognize the full 12 Gb ? I thought the 64-bit OS was supposed to recognize up to 128 Gb. Any ideas???
My motherboard is an ASUS P6T Deluxe Intel X58, CPU= Intel Core i7 Extreme 965(4x 3.2 GHz;8MB L3 Cache).

Hello kfreire,

I would open up BIOS and see what is recognized there. If the mobo can see all 12 gigs, then its a Vista problem, if not....

Hi kfreire,

Welcome to the vista Forum. According to the following Article you have compatible Mother Board and processor that can support more than 4GB of RAM on 64-bit OS.

To recognize the full 12 Gb of RAM...you need to enable "memory remapping" feature in BIOS.

Refer manual or mfrs website to check whether any of the settings enable the memory remapping feature in BIOS

If you need help on "PAE-mode-induced driver compatibility issues" section....Let me konw.

Good Luck.

I would appreciate if you could help me with the "PAE-mode-induced driver compatibility issues" section . As far as I know my BIOS doesn't have a memory remapping feature unless it's called something else on the BIOS menu.

Thanks for the help,

kfreire.

Hi Kernel:

I did the BIOS update as you said and still the same.
I just can't find the memory remapping feature on the BIOS setup.

Below in red is what I'm trying to say.

Here is the solution: The Microsoft System Information (Msinfo32.exe) tool reports the incorrect amount of physical memory in a Windows Server 2008-based or Windows Vista Service Pack 1-based computer that has more than 4 GB of physical memory installed

I should have asked you to paste the screen shot lol....vista utilize 12GB RAM...it was just an information that is not showing correctry.

Let me know the status.

If i assist you, tip the scales. Thank you.
