I've just set up a new user account for my partner and for some reason 3 programs were running everytime she logged on. two were simple to remove but i cannot remove Magnifier. After reading various forums I've tried the following.
Easy access just turns it off each time but not permanently.
I have checked Start Up menu and there is nothing in it.
I've tried running the msconfig - but when i try to click through as admin with password nothing happens - all just freezes.
Double check with using Method Three (OPTION TWO) in the tutorial below to see if you have a startup entry in the registry for the "C:\Windows\System32\Magnify.exe" file. If you do, then can delete it to hopefully stop it from running at startup.
I've checked the registry and the 'magnifier' isn't in the run folder.
It also doesn't show up in windows defender in the start up.
I can't do the msconfig as for some strange reason when i click on it and then ok for admin to proceed the screen goes grey (although the mouse stays full brightness) and nothing happens. I have to press cont/alt/delte to get out of it.
With Msconfig acting that way, you may have more than one issue at hand. You might see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before this started may fix it for you.
