User Account Creation Problem

I have been trying to create a new user for my computer and it won't allow me. I have read some of the posts and tried what I could but most were about the same advice and some of them were too technical for me. Could someone chat with me so I can create one??

What error message are you getting when you try to create a new account? Is the account that you are using when you try to create the new account an administrator account?

Try this:
Start>Control Panel>User Accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts-Add or remove user accounts> click continue>Click "create a new Account"

note- If clicking UAC prompts (continue) fails to elevate User priviledges necessary to create new account there may be User file/Windows corruption, requiring Vista Re-installation. This can be temporarily resolved by disabling UAC long enough to create new User Account (not recommended), or by the below Admin Acct activation.


Activate and log into hidden Administrator Account:
Start>in search, type cmd>right click, "run as adminstrator">in command prompt copy/paste the following and hit enter> Sign out, and sign into new Amin Account

net user administrator /active:yes

Disable Admin Account after creation of User:
Repeat cmd process as given above and copy/paste the following command and hit enter.
net user administrator /active:no

If ALL elevations of Admin/User priviledges fail, User account is corrupt, and is no longer recognized by Vista as having Admin permissions.

You have Five options:
Take Ownership/Restore Permissions (If possible)
Log-in as other User/Admin already created-Delete/re-create corrupt User/Admin account
Use O/S disk or recovery partition to acess Advanced recovery Options to Restore to point before corruption occured if such a System restore point still exists
