Touchpad and Keyboard?

i have a gateway laptop and for some reason, the touchpad and some of the keys on the keyboard wont work anymore. i have tried updating the drivers and nothing has worked. any ideas on anything else i can try to fix this?

Can you access device manager? Is the keyboard listed??

can access every thing. under the device manager the keyboard is listed no problems seem to be occurring. but for the touch pad there is a problem and i dont know how to fix it.

OK..... If you turn off the touchpad, does the KB problem disappear?

Ok, so it is a problem with the built in keyboard. Unfortunately, I think that it is broken, and has to be replaced....

damn. what do you think about the touchpad? could it just be disabled under the function keys? if so which ones should i try. i dont have use of some of them because of the keyboard.

Go into device manager and check to make sure that the touchpad is enabled. If it is, go to control panel, mouse settings, and check to make sure it is on there.

try disabling touchpad from bios then add an external mouse.

The touchpad might be conflicting with the keyboard:eek:.

Restart the computer and press whatever button it says to get into the bios (it should say somewhere).then look through the tabs and you should see an option for touchpad enable or disable.
I hope that helps, thats about the best explanation i can give off the top of my head.
