My button on my keyboard won't open my cd tray.

I have an HP computer and on my keyboard It has a button to open up the cd tray, and it was working fine, but I have moved my computer, and set everything up the same way, and now the button to open up cd tray doesn't work, it shows on my screen "Eject Drive 1" when I hit the button, but my tray doesn't do anything, and also I know my buttons on keyboard work because I can change the volume and everthing else fine. Also If I manually open up the tray, press the button on comp, I put in a cd, and it doesn't even act like there is a cd in it, It does the spinning in the pc cause I can hear it, but It doesn't pop up anything like to watch a dvd.

please help.

Sounds like the drive is screwed up. Can you find the updated driver for it?

If that doesn't fix it, you may need to get a new drive.

Yeah I have tried updating driver, and tried uninstalling it and rebooting, but that didn't work, it won't even uninstall, but it was just working! there has to be a way.

Ok, do you have another CD/DVD drive for the laptop you could put in and try?

I just booted into my xubuntu side, and the cd tray works fine. So what do I do?

Ah. Ok, that sounds more like a driver issue with Vista and the keyboard. Update the kb driver, and the CD/DVD Drive.

Do you have another KB with a similar button? If so, try that one. I bet it will work.

no I know the button works though, b/c when I press it, it shows on my screen eject drive 1, but nothing happens, and if you look at the pictures posted previously it says there is an error, but is there no fix? and I dont have anther keyboard that has buttons like this.

Hmmmm......

Well we know this is a Vista issue. We know the CD drive and the KB are good. So somewhere along the chain of command, it is getting lost. Do you have the original driver that came with the CD/DVD drive?
