Remove Administrator rights to guest user?

hi i m using DELL inspiron 1525 window vista home premium, by mistaken i was give admin right to guest user now i m unable to remove the admin from guest neither i m able to give admin right to other standard user, plz help me out i m very much upset.

Hello Riyansh, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Try this tutorial to see if you can change the account type for these accounts back to what you wanted. You will need to have at least one other administrator account though to be able to remove that type from the others.

You need to log out of the Guest Account first, and login with another different Adminsitrator account before you can make changes to the Guest Account.

Have you tried rebooting into Safe Mode to use the built-in "Administrator" account that is usually disabled?

You can see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before this happened can help.

If that does not help, then you can try a repair (upgrade) install. Afterwards, you should have a default administrator account again to make the account type changes to the other accounts if they have not alread been done by the repair install.

if i will do repair (upgrade) install then is therebany chance to loose my data or files. i do not want to loose any thing. my fren did u faced this prob before? because we can not set ny passward for guest account, and my all admin right are with guest account , tell me how to give admin right to other user, plz plz plz help me .lot of people facing this prob but noone helped me , i m expecting a lot from u, plz help

Riyansh,

You should not lose anything while doing the repair (upgrade) install. If anything is missing, it should be in the C:\Windows.old folder.
