Well I decided to defrag Vista while I trotted off out to work and left it running, I defragged using verbose mode - all went ok but one thing I notice in the output results was a drop in free space (went down by 8Gb.) Although it is a small amount I thought one of the benefits of a defrag would be a slight increase rather than a loss
Before defrag:
Free Space 251Gb
% Free Space 84
Percent file fragmentation 12%
After defrag:
Free Space 243 Gb
% free space 81%
Percent file fragmentation 0%
Any Explanation why this happens at all?
