Solved Help With Reinstalation. Boot - From Desktop.

I'm not sure where this goes but i was wondering what would give my system the best performance after a reinstall.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 32&64bit. Going to install 64Bit.

System Rig
1TB RAID 0
Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 512MB Shared 1279MB
Intel Quad Core Q6600 2.4Ghz
4GB DDr2 Ram

Whats the Best Reinstallation Method

Hello Elite Knight, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Whenever you go from a 32-bit to 64-bit OS, or the other way around, you will have to do a clean install.

Thank you for the replay i will get on it tomorrow my network download speed is capped at 10KB because we use a limet and i need the Slipstream thingy to do and i dont have any blank dvd's or cd'rs so i have to wait.

Ok thanks. And can u use multipul cd'rs to install vista 64bit.

Also does it madder if i used XP format tool when i tryed XP on here will that effect the Hard drive in anyway. Also if i use vista format tool as well. Performance. I just did a quick format will that do anything On XP.

One more thing if a system comes with a OS and you downgrade and it seems slower is that normal because I was thinking this computer is made for vista.

Normally Vista comes on only one DVD, but I suppose if it came packaged that way it would work fine.

It would not matter if you formated the drive or partition with XP first. Since Vista has the option to format during installation, it would be best to use the Vista format option instead.

It depends on if you have drivers for all of your devices for the OS that you downgraded to. If not, then that could impact performance. Vista was designed to take advantage of and use more of the resources it was given. This tutorial can help speed Vista up for you though.
