I have a Toshiba laptop that is causing me a few headaches. It was very hard for me to figure out how to type Umlauts and other ASCII symbols. In my quest to do so, I found myself typing the red alt carr symbols unintentionally. I have no clue of how I managed to a) type them and b) stop doing so again..but I now know my keyboard can type them. I have tried to replicate by using Fn and the red keys, but no luck. PLEASE help|!!

Hello IHDK, and welcome to Vista Forums.
You may be able to use Character Map to select a wide variety of these character symbols to copy them to where you are typing. At the bottom right corner of Character Map, it will show you what keyboard shortcut to press for the selected character symbol.
