Well tragic few days for me...
First my samsung dvd drive (sh-s223f) failed to read any sort of media, i tried all the fixes i could find and now its being RMA to scan. So i replaced it with an old IDE drive and all was good, everything worked fine, the second time i turn it on after replacing the drive it says bootmgr or whatever is currupt, so i loaded in my install DVD, (OEM btw) went to do a repair install for startup repair, it found nothing wrong, even though 5 minutes previous it had told me this was wrong. So i tried a few more times, finally bit the bullet and loaded up Ubuntu as live cd, got any files and programs backed up that i needed. Went to do a clean install of Vista assuming that would work, and it failed. Got an error number and explanation saying that bootmgr is missing! So now my CD is worthless what should i do? Will microsoft replace it? Would the company i bought it from replace it? So yeh where should i go from here? All i can assume is the broken drive did something to the disk when i did a fix recommended to me.
