Solved computer in sleep mode/hibernation

I left my comp on overnight and now it has either gone to a deep sleep or hibernation and it wont come on now.
I have an Acer Aspire L320 running on windows vista.
Wheb i tried to wake it up nothing happened and now comp wont work.

I have tried restarting, unplugging then starting, i thought i had tried everything but i am missing something.
When i do try to switch the comp on again the fans make a noise then nothing, does this mean that something really bad has happened?

Can anyone give me some advice and help?
I have read other hibernation problems but none of them seem to coever this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Sandki, and welcome to Vista Forums.

See if resetting the CMOS will allow it to start again afterwards. If you are not sure what jumpers to cross on the motherboard to reset the CMOS, then you can remove the flat wide watch looking battery for a few minutes and place it back in to reset the CMOS. Be sure to unplug the computer first though.

ok i will give that a go, hope its easy enough to do. will doing that mean i lose everything on comp and have to reinstall windows?

Your welcome Sandki.

No, it will just reset your motherboard's BIOS settings back to the factory default settings. It will not affect Vista or your data at all. :geek:

thats good. didnt want to have to reinstall everything.
i will give it a go tomorrow and let you know how i got on. Hopefully i will be able to sort it out

thanks for the help and advice Brink, i tried looking for the battery and the only battery looking thing i saw was covered in plastic, i took that out and put it back but things were just the same.
In the end i took it to a repair shop so hopefully i will get it sorted out.

It was a bad problem, the guy told me the motherboard was burnt out and it could cost a lot to get it sorted. So tomorrow i am going to phone the manufacturer to see what they say as the comp is only 6 months old and is still under warranty i think.
Fingers crossed i can get it fixed this way.

thanks for all your help Brink, finally got comp back from manufacturer, the motherboard had to be replaced and thankfully it dodnt cost me a penny.
Im am so glad its sorted out.
