Hi. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. When I try to install almost anything, I get an error that says there is another installation in progress, finish that install and then install this program. The problem is I don't have anything at all installing. I have disabled and restarted Windows Installer and I have disabled a filed named hpqcxs08 under the Services tabs. That worked for a couple of installs, but now it has started again. I then tried to install msicuu2.exe (Windows Cleanup Utility) and it gave the same error and called it Error 1500. Please can anyone help??!! I have a brand new computer and even though I love what Vista can do...I have not being able to load my programs.

You might try looking in Task manager to see what else is running when you get these messages.

Since you have not installed anything in the computer yet, it is easier try to reinstall Vista or restore to factory original condition first. This will clean out any virus for sure. Good luck and let us know how is it turns out.

if you have a look at this article, which is a little technical i'm afraid it explains reasons for your error and a suggested solution. it may save you a re-install if you feel, after reading the article, that it is within you capabilities.
