Vista x64 Ultimate detected as Windows 95

I was trying to install Java and Flash onto my vista x64 ultimate and both flash and java sites detected my os as Windows 95!

Is this a bug or something wrong with my computer?

Advice pse.....

It's most likely something wrong with those websites. See if you can install them from the source sites of these programs below.

Was shock for a bit. I went manually select the installation files from the sites since it still saying my os is Windows 95, something like

"Windows 95 is an unsupported operating system.
We have detected that you are using Windows 95 which is not supported by this site"

should I worry?

I have just tried the Java download with the same OS as you, and did not have a problem. Just as a test to see if it is sorrect, see what About says for your system.

My guess is that they incorrectly ID your system. Go ahead and download it manually and see if it will install for you.


You may also run a sfc/ scannow command to see if it can find and fix any bad system files that may be the cause.
