Hi All,
I searched the forum, but couldn't find this one....
I have an XP machine, with an EPSON Stylus Photo Rx580 printer attached to it. It prints just fine and dandy from the main PC and others attached to my network.
I used to have the printer software installed on my laptop running Vista. Since I just restaged the laptop recently, I went out to get the latest drivers for the printer from EPSON, and set it up with the EPSON tech on the phone. I ended up creating a local port with the Shared printer defined, and added the printer. All set.... It printed fine.
BUT, now every day when I boot up both machines, I have to re-add the printer from the Vista laptop! It's nuts! I go to print something, and it just goes into the queue. I delete the printer, re-add it, and then it works again.
Have you ever seen this one before? The forum might have a solution posted, but I couldn't locate it...
Notes:
- When I originally setup the printer, I installed all of the printer software on the laptop, and installed it like a local printer. I had found a posting on a forum awhile back, that described problems with setting up printers in Vista. Since I had the new Service Pack on Vista and Epson had a chance to work on new drivers, I figured it would be best to go and get the latest and greatest. I didn't need the scanning software and other bells/whistles, so the driver package download seemed to be the right choice.
- I noticed that I have the new Microsoft XPS Document Writer installed on this go around with Vista. I don't recall seeing that before, but I don't know for sure. I have noticed that the default does not change, when I see the problem that I've noted above. I even tried changing the defaults back and forth, but it didn't help...
Does anyone have any ideas on this one? Meanwhile, I'll just delete and re-add the printer every morning....
