Hi,
I am facing an issue with internet explorer that whenever I try to open it, it gives me an error message, IEUSER.EXE application error. And it needs to be terminated. I have tried to reset it. But it does not work. I downloaded Mozilla through an FTP download. And that is working fine but I still need internet explorer to work. And I cannot even think about doing a complete re-install. :shock:

Code: 
SFC /SCANNOW
and see if that fixes the problem. You ***might*** be asked to insert a Vista disc, but every time I have run it I have not.

I just tried that, but still the issue is there. I also did a virus scan, no viruses were detected.

I have tried everything that I could think of. have tried to download & install IE8. But now the internet explorer would not open.

I was asking not if you tried it but if you *regularly* run UAC disabled or enabled.

Sorry for that, but UAC was disabled from day 1. I hate annoying popups.

Try enabling UAC - and you should not be running UAC disabled - unless you want to be running 5 different types of AntiMalware to keep your computer clean, and using a lot more system resources than UAC does.

would try to that. but what could be causing the issue. because I have also tried to do a
system restore but still after that the issue is there.

system restore only replaces things like registry entries - if the file itself is corrupt then it could be either hardware corruption (you should run diagnostics on your HD just in case) or software corruption (SFC did not find any errors and you say you scanned with antiMalware - but have you performed a 3rd party scan? If Malware is on your system it could have infected your AV program as well).

And SFC takes a long time and the log is *usually* very very long - because that log is appended to every day, or couple of days....

I have seen logs as large as 30+ MB....

I have done a scan through Mcafee & then ran a free scan through trend micro. but nothing was found. Right now I am running test on the hdd. would update what happens.

Hard drive is working fine. All test passed. Any idea's before I make up my mind to do a complete re-install.

honestly, an I hate to say this, bu that might be your best bet in the end - since we're not 100% sure what caused this....

Only other thing I can think that might help would be to perform a Vista Repair from the DVD or else right click the file and see if you can replace the previous version from the properties dialog.

It up and running once again. Took me all day to back up all my stuff. But the complete re-install fixed the problem. But would still research on the issue further to see if there is any other resolution other than a complete re-install.

There is! IE and other "associated" programs will not function properly without the ieuser.exe. Replacing the files you had problems with from a computer that was working would have fixed it.
