Can someone upload the two desktop.ini files located on the desktop after you uncheck "hide protected operating system files" I deleted mine by mistake.

Hi Fieseler,

You should be able to restart the computer to have Vista automatically recreate them. If not, then you can run a sfc /scannow command to get them back. Another person's desktop.ini file may contain something that only pertains to their desktop instead.

ive tried both but its still not returned for some reason.

i did some research & found that these files change the appearance of the folder icon so its blue instead of the default yellow. One is for the public account, one for the current user.

thanks, ill make sure to keep these hidden. Theyre too vulnerable to being deleted on my desktop.

thanks brink winstep gives you an option to hide desktop icons but it seems to have mucked up my settings so thanks for the zips they have helped me also!!

I always delete the two desktop.ini I find in my desktop, but I never had a problem with this...
