Ok, for some reason I didn't notice the SP 1 update until just the 5th of this month. I installed and upon restart i found that my sound was horribly messed up. In my 5.1 surround sound system only one half of one speaker would work.
As per online instructions from microsoft and other websites, i tried to update the drivers, which did no good. Then i tried uninstalling the SP, which it would not give me the option to. So as a last resort i tried doing a system restore on my computer, to place it to a time previous to me installing the update.
The restore ran for up to 12+ hours. And then i left the monitor on while i watched some tv, suddenly the computer shut down. I turned the computer back on, it booted into a repair and correction menu... Where it gave me different options to try and fix my computer. It feels that the disk was corrupted. An option was present that said "System Restored" I tried to run it in hopes of fixing the issue. It then stated that the disk had errors and needed to run a disk check before launching system restore. It runs the disk check and then just stops and closes the window about 1/3 of the way through.
From a phone conversation with some technician that wanted to charge me $200 he mentioned my registry was corrupt....
Can anyone help? I attend school from this computer and run a small bussniess... my life is basicly on pause till i can fix it!
