What are all these weird folders under my user folder? The folder names are in brackets and each folder contains a *.cat file.

I would just create a new folder on the desktop & dump them in there, after a week if nothing has moaned at you for not being able to find them, just delete them. I proabaly would straight away but thats not for everyone.

each of those folder names is in the same type of notation as certain Registry entries. Create a system restore point before you move or delete them.
