Intermittently, I'm having this problem where my laptop will freeze up, playing the sound it was playing like a broken record. This has happened when I've been listening to music in Winamp or playing UT2004.
The first time this happened was in mid-January when I was playing UT2004. All of a sudden, it froze solid with the sound repeating over and over again. This necessitated a hard shut down.
At the time, I was still using the sound and video drivers that the computer had come with in October, 2007. I updated my HD RealTek sound from their site and my nVidia GeForce 8700M GT video driver with one from LaptopVideo2Go in hopes this would take care of the problem. It seemed to go away for a few months.
The next time it occurred was on Good Friday. I was reading Oliver Twist in my text file viewer and just listening to MP3s on Winamp. Again, the sound repeated like a broken record. This time though, it resulted in a BSOD.
I updated my sound and video drivers again from LaptopVideo2Go and HD RealTek's site.
About two weeks ago, I was listening to music in Winamp while using Firefox when the music began repeating like a broken record. I was able to get to Winamp and stop the music. I then sat with the laptop while it had a seizure for lack of a better term. The CPU core usage was spiking and the HDD LED was going crazy.
It finally calmed down and I decided to reboot it to be on the safe side. When I came back into my Windows account, I was greeted with an error message saying, "Windows host process Rundll32 stopped working and has closed" and that Windows would send a report to MS, blah blah.
The machine operated normally after that, so I thought nothing else of it. Yesterday, I was playing UT2004 when all of a sudden it froze, with the sound of a raptor growling, playing like a broken record. This necessitated a hard shut down.
After I booted back up, I was again greeted with the Rundll32 error message and this time, my damn video resolution was knocked down to 800x600. I was able to put it back up through the control panel settings.

I decided that maybe the best course of action would be to shut the machine down at night to give it a fresh boot to work with. No such luck. This morning, I again get the Rundll32 error and my screen rez knocked down to 800x600.
I ran sfc /scannow. When it finished, it said that it had found some corrupt system files, but couldn't repair all of them. I accessed the CBS.log file which the results were appended to. The pertinent part of the log is at the link below.

My antivirus (Avast 4.8 Home Edition) and spyware (Spybot S&D) are current and have shown no presence of viruses or malware.
Thank you for any help in advance.
