installing my vista disk on another computer

I have a new laptop and a copy of vista and im wondering what is stopping me installing this copy onto my old desktop aswell

Welcome to the Vista Forums :party:

Vista has an activation feature. Once your license is activated, installing your operating system on a second computer will result in an activation failure and the OS will be non-usable within (I think) 30 days unless a new serial number is entered. It's one license per system.
