vista and xp compatibility??

I am a total computer novice so would be grateful for a non technical answer if anyone can help me!!
I have downloaded some files from my Windows Vista computer onto a disc for my boss but when she tried them in her Windows XP it could not read them??Why is this and what can I do about it?? The same thing happened when i tried to email them to her??
HELP!!!! I really dont know what i am doing!! :rolleyes:

What files?

If you're talking about files created in Office 2007, then your boss has two choices - install Office 2007 or download the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack for Office 2003. The third choice is for you to re-open those files in your Office 2007, then use the Save As command, this time specifying that the files be saved as Office 97/2003 files.

But I really cannot give any answer until I know exactly what files you have copied and what program is used to open them.
