Solved error installing game

when i try to install "borderlands" game i get two errors. first one says " C:\Program Files (x86)\2K Games\Gearbox Software\Borderlands\Binaries\Borderlands.exe " i have tried the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) and that didnt do anything. When i click ok on the warning box i get "Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." when i view the event log i see

That error indicates something that the game depends upon is missing Let's start by installing the various redistributables. A good friend of mine has an excellent post on installing these, so it would be best if you follow his instructions:

did all that and same error messages. tried an elevated command prompt (sfc/scannow) and chkdsk. they both run and nothing happens

Install these in the following order:

Download: Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
Download: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

For the second one, download the file called vcredist_x86.exe
