Solved Cannot uninstall Bully: Scholarship Edition

EDIT: I now cannot reinstall Bully: Scholarship Edition as an error message when trying to install comes up saying "DirectX9 installation failed." and takes me back to the previous screen. I have read a guide from Vista's sister forums, 7 forums, with this same problem. Like the person who had that problem before, WHAT THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?

Hi Peter, it sounds like your sister has removed the social club client, the game will not function without that client installed, please insert the game disc and browse the disc for social club, try and find the setup.exe for social club and install that, it should now work again.

The only setup.exe I can find is by Setup Launcher, Rockstar Games. All of the files in there are data, dx files and other complicated stuff. Should I run that installer?

When I insert the disk, it automaticly prompts me for which laungauge to install it in. I then right click on the disk drive I inserted it in, and I click Explore.

If it will install the client then yes, if there is a repair option, it should re-install the social club client anyway.

Nope, I tried it and it's just the same old default installer. Theres another installer, not sure if it is, named Bully Scholarship Edition and it's a Windows Installer Package.

OK guys, good news and bad news.

The good news is that I can install Bully normally.

The bad news is that after I choose what to install, which is the game itself, I click on next after that and it tries to install DirectX 9 or something like that and fails. I click OK and it takes me back to the last screen. what to do? my current DirectX is DirectX 10, apparently.

No. The only option on what to install is the game itself and nothing more.

Ok, I think it might be something to do with direct X 9, the game requires it to work, I know you have 10 installed but you will need compatible files installed for bully to work, can you install this > Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer this will install directX 9c and hopefully solve any issues that you're having.

The thing is, about 2 days ago I downloaded something related to DirectX 9.0 or something and it did not work and now I am not sure. If I install this what will happen to my other DirectX 10?

Nothing, these are completely different files to the ones you already have, you should be on DX11 to be honest...

This is very confusing, it shouldn't really matter if you install 9c as it's not even the same files, I think we have a more serious underlying problem here, it's looking more and more likely that you might need to do a few virus scans to make sure something else isn't causing any problems.

I was thinking that you could uninstall 10 then install 9? :confused:

Also, I am sure that there is no viruses as my AVG is set to scan every midnight. The only thing I can ever get as warnings on my PC is tracking cookies, but those can be cleared easily and are not related to this matter.

I would suggest that but you cannot install dirextX 10 as it's not a download, it comes with vista as standard, there is no redistributable package for DX10 :-(

Edit: are your graphics drivers up to date, might help with the error when trying to run.

Well I have run the game before, quite a few times so it should work fine.

To be quite honest, my dad was the one that got the game working when I first got it. I don't know how he did it, but hopefully he should know what to do.

Remember that this is the fault of my sister for uninstalling Rockstar Games. She looks out for me and she thought it was Grand Theft Auto (Rockstar makes GTA and Bully too).

Also, the icons for the game are still there, they just won't run. I am not sure if the game has been removed completely from my computer, but right now the matter is DirectX so let's leave that when another problem that dosen't involve DirectX arises. I shall search the internet on how to remove DirectX 10.

EDIT: I installed another DirectX 9 from this thread but it still woulden't work. This time after installation it said the components are ready to use. And guess what? I click install, a grey window pops up saying installing DirectX 9, and then a BLOODY ERROR MESSAGE WITH A YELLOW BLOODY TRIANGLE WITH A BLOODY ! IN IT COMES UP AND SAYS THAT THE INSTALLATION FAILED AND TOOK ME BACK TO THE LAST SCREEN!!!

Bump.

The dx9 folder in my disk is probably what is causing the problem. I need to find a way to delete it so the message won't even come up and will skip the DirectX 9 installlation.

One way was to when it displayed the first grey message, open the task manager and look on a list of processes. End the process for the directx9 installation will skip it but it is too fast, and ther eis no such thing anyway.
