I just had the same problem with mine, and i found a solution so i was like, OMG pplz need to know about this. With mine though, i had an error message saying i should try an operating system like windows 95 or something. uh, nuhthx. but the solution is actually
for your system asking to reboot, and it worked for me too, despite the different intial problem. must be a vista thing. anyway..
it says this in a nutshell:
-Install the game (duh..)
-Download the Obscure 1.1 patch (Google it - found mine on gamershell.net)
-Google search "obscure no-cd" (Says it's also illegal in most countries. But it won't work any other way, so this'll be our little secret.
i found my download on gameburnworld.com and chose "Mirror 2" i think, mirror 1 apparently has a virus.)
-Have WinRar installed (Google) and choose to save the no-cd file wherever your heart desires.
-Right click on the icon, and click extract here. (For me, there was an "Obscure" icon and some other weird looking one, and i found out that it was basically irrelevant. just need the obscure one.)
-Then just mosey on to your install path.. My Computer/C:/Program Files/Dreamcatcher/Obscure. (On mine i have a "Program Files" and a "Program Files (x86)" and it was in the second one, for all you n00bz who might not look there if you have it.)
-Now, there should be an identical Obscure icon in there (Application file). All you do, is just rename it "Obscure.exe.bak" minus the quotations.
-Simply copy the identical downloaded icon, paste in the same folder as the renamed one, and you're good to go! =D Hope this helped..
