Problems installing Epson Perfection 1260 scanner drivers

Hi all,

Here is my situation: I have used that scanner on my computer without problems for some time. Then, I believe I might have uninstalled the drivers because we put this PC to a different use, but now I have it back as my main computer, and the drivers just won't install properly, they appear to be in place but the scanner is not detected by the system. I've tried both the Vista driver and the older one designed for XP, neither of them are working (I've tried that because when I was getting that scanner to work with Windows 7, quite surprisingly Vista's version did not work, but XP's did (there was no specific Win7 version available).

I have Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Have you checked if the USB is plugged in? My personal experience with Vista, is that if everything is plugged in correctly, on Start Up, Windows will load what ever drivers it deems required i.e. Microsoft drivers.

You might also run the Microsoft Fix-it and scan the system using the Hardware and Devices option.

The MS Fix-It is all but defunct

It works for me in Vista and Win 7. Just lettin' ya know.
