Trying to convert a RAID installation to an AHCI one

I'm trying to change my Windows Vista (installed as the boot disc originally on a RAID config) to AHCI, but even after I change the two entries in the Registry Editor to '0' for both AHCI and RAID drivers, Vista fails to load when I change the config to AHCI for SATA. Any suggestions?

I was wondering if there was a possible way I could manually install an AHCI driver to my Vista installation, but Google doesn't seem to be giving me any links to instructions for that.

If you're talking about the motherboard, it's unfortunately a Gateway-branded stock. I don't even know exactly what the (original) make and model of the computer is. Here's a generic specification list on the Gateway website for my line of desktops:

I tried installing the HDD into my newer computer (with AHCI mode on) to see if it would boot there (incase my stock Gateway's mobo was having issues), but it seems to give the same issue. It starts to load Windows, then fails, BSoD's, and restarts. The exact same.

So I can assert that it's not a motherboard issue.
