Hi,
I need help fixing failed installation of drivers for a NIKON DSC COOLPIX L12-PTP digital camera.
I attached the USB cable and camera to my PC and got options. I chose Locate and install driver software. A window soon appeared with the message:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered and error while attempting to install it.
Digital Still Camera
The account specified for this service is different for the account specified for other services running in the same process
There was no number assaciated with the error message.
I then tried to figure out after opening Task Manager as Administrator what the services are that should all be associated with the same account in the same process. The only process that I could see that seemed like it might be the appropriate one is NKMonitor.exe (PID 2636). I right clicked on it and then on go to services, but there was nothing highlighted to show any related services.
I opened the file location of the process and it was C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nikon\Monitor\NKMonitor. This is a program I downloaded a few days ago from Nikon's website to try and fix the problem I'm having with driver installation. I couldn't find the drivers for my camera on their website.
Can anyone tell me how I can find out what the process is that's associated with installation of the camera drivers? How do I find what all the services are that are running in that process?
I'm familiar with Services and using Command Prompt if there's a way to find out using either of those. Though it seems like maybe the thing to do would be to communicate with Nikon to resolve this, I've had the problem of the account specified for a service being different for the account specified for other services running in the same process happen before. I'd like to have some way to resolve it any time it happens again as well as in this particular case.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Dinah
