On my laptop Acer 6930G I had the original audiodriver Realtek 6.0.1.5618 installed which, because of some shortcomings, I removed via the Control Panel/Programs to Remove and on restart Windows Vista automatically installed one new Microsoft audiodriver with two names for the same driver Microsoft High Definition Audio Driver a) 6.0.6002.18005 (date 2006/6/21) and b) 6.0.6001.18000 (longhorn_rtm.080118-1840). This driver works perfectly but I found out it took over and/or figures on a multitude of items in the Device Manager and is no more as one single program/audiodriver available in the Control Panel/Programs to Remove. So in Device Manager, the drivername 6.0.6001.18000 figures on 15 items (controllers) and the drivername 6.0.6002.18005 figures on 58 items (controllers). This gives a problem since at setup of a new driver I want to install, I don't know if the new Realtek audiodriver recommended by Acer (audiodriver Realtek 6.0.1.5704 - R1.92) will be installed correctly and if there will not be a system failure and/or damage.
Note: this audiodrivernames 6.0.6002.18005 and 6.0.6001.18000 are totally unknown in Microsoft Downloadcenter (search) but the driver 6.0.6001.18000 is known on Internet, the other 6.0.6002.18005 not known at all. :-?
