wireless adapter driver trouble

Hi,

I just formatted my Packard Bell, which was manufactured solely for Windows Vista Home Premium.

Due to a viral infection, I was unable to make back ups of all the drivers, etc. Now I find that my usb wireless adapter cannot be installed because its respective driver is missing. Or so it appears.. because I downloaded the driver from the Sweex website (adapter model is LW053 Wireless 54G Adapter USB) and Windows can't seem to find it. What do you suggest?

I'd really appreciate your help,

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
Hello and welcome to the forum. Because you said viral infection there is a couple of things you need to do right away.

1. Run a full AV scan.
2. Download for free Malwarebytes and run a full scan.
3. I would go to a elevated command prompt and type in sfc /scannow now notice there is a space bewteen the sfc and the forward slash if you have not already done so, this can repair a lot of problems on your system.
4. Sometimes if you put your usb in another slot it runs just fine which would give a little time to figure out what is wrong with the other usb port. I hope this helps.
