My disc drive is not reading any type of disc I put into it, CD's, DVD'S, software, games, doesn't read any of them, it just says 'Please insert disc'. I have rebooted and deleted the Upper and Lower filters and on device manager it tells me it is working eprfectly fine but it doesn't even make the whirring noise.

This might void your warranty but open your case (if its a desktop) and check to see if you SATA/IDE cable is connected to the optical drive and make sure it isnot loose. it happened to me. i could see in My Computer but it would not load.
