Webcam issues please help.

I had to replace my LCD video cable for HP dv9627cl notebook. the webcam worked when i took the old wire out. when i put the new one in the webcam dont work. approx 1 month passed because i had to order the cable. I went to imaging devices in device manager and there is no listing for imaging devices....installed the webcam software for this pc and it still dont show that category...i have tried numerous other things....quickplay dont have webcam option on my pc....just in case someone wants to suggest that. the monitor works and i think the mic works but the webcam dont. i get a message stating that i need to plug a webcam in but this one is built in and all the wires are definitely plugged in.

I'd pull it apart again and make sure its all tite inside.... Not to up on how theyre plugged in, but did you ensure you got an exact replacement? Maybe the cam runs through the same ribbon.

the cable that runs the vid cam is not the one that i replaced, i bought an external monitor and operated my pc until the cable came in and wheni plugged everything back up, the vid dont work

Okay, so the cable for the cam, is a completely different one.

I'd again, just recheck all your connections, as you may have pinched the cable.

i unplugged the cam with the pc running and i got a message that it had malfunctioned. it indicated that it is a usb related device so the device manager shows an unknown device where the problem is. when i had the pc search for software it says that the driver is up to date.......but still showing unknown device under usb root hub2
