How important is it to update vista drivers with a new laptop?

ive had my laptop for 2 weeks now and with the dell instruction guide, it told me to update all the drivers, sound,audio etc etc but i never done it...so is it important and is their a way of checking if its auto updated by itself cause with a new machine you would have thought everything would be up to date.

depends what your using your laptop for , if its just general surfing , watching movies etc then i wouldnt bother unless you have any issue's theres no point , just keep on top of windows update

oh great thanx for that advice...and yes thats all i use it for really...music,burning,surfing. i guess if i have driver errors i will update.
