Disk Read Error on Vista Toshiba

I hard shut down my laptop(pushed the start button) and now whenever it starts up right after the "Toshiba in touch with tomorrow" it says disk read error. The only two options i have before that is click f2 for setup and click f12 for boot devise selection menu.
I left my laptop alone for a day thinking it might be overheating but the problem is still there.

Here's what i would try, enter the Bios, go to boot section and set your cd/dvd drive as the 1st boot device, save and exit, (DONT FORGET TO CHANGE IT BACK AFTER), insert your windows disc and startup the computer,
when asked, boot from cd/dvd,
choose the repair option,
highlight your drive and repair,
this should repair/replace any damaged files stopping the bootup sequence. give it a go and post your results. good luck.
