NVIDIA drivers causing BSOD's

Hello,

About a month ago, I started experiencing a lot of BSOD's. It started when I updated my graphics card to be able to play Age of Conan. The game started to crash frequently and BSOD's began to pop up. I thought it was just the game so I deleted it but, unfortunately, all my games had occasional BSOD's. However lately, my computer started to crash much more frequently and, after any crash, my computer would become unable to restart. I have to wait about 30 mins before restarting my pc to avoid getting errors. My graphics card is: NVIDIA geforce 8800GT. Altough I'm pretty sure it's my graphics card/driver that is causing the troubles, because the crashes -not the ones during rebooting- occur when there are graphics involved but, I could be wrong!
The strange thing is, I always get another BSOD. The code varies from 0x0000008E, 0x000000FE, to -I don't remember the code- problems with USB drivers. I've tried reinstalling the NVIDIA display driver but no luck. Now I do think I might be doing something wrong at the whole Reinstalling process. These are the steps I take:
1. go to control panel
2. uninstall the NVIDIA display driver using the add/remove program button
(I don't uninstall every driver).
3. restart in safe mode.
4. use driver sweeper to get rid of all the remains of the driver.
5. restart the pc.
6. install the latest drivers.
If anyone knows what I did wrong, or what else could be the cause of my problem, please give me some advice

are those idle temps? your gpu core and your cpu are very hot (not too hot by any means) but considering they are idle temperatures id hate to think what temps are getting up to when your ingame.

why is your cpu voltage set so high????? if you have applied any kind of overclock remember its is a very bad idea to let your bios manage the voltages.

leave HW monitor running and play a geme for half an hour then post another screnie of your HW monitor please :D nthen we can see what your voltages and temps are doing on load

Ive attached a snapshot of my rig exactlky the same cpu and gpu so you can see what i mean about your temps , my cpu is overclocked as per my system specs

Ooow, I never thought it would be the temperatures :huh:.
Well, it makes kind of sense. Once I play a game, the temperature would increase a lot and then crash. That's why I couldn't get my pc running again.
Okay, going to start a game now and see how high the temperature goes.
Though my pc is in a pretty open area. Should I replace my pc or is it my fan that causes the high temperature?

Thats exactly it and why i asked you to post a screenshot of your temps.

If possible play the game in windowed mode and run HWmonitor so while your playing you can keep an eye on the temps. If gpu temps near 100 or cpu nears 60 then you have major cooling issues with your pc.

If possible come back here and post a screenshot of your temps and tell us what pc case you have.

he wont have to play it windowed hw monitor displays the max temp as well as lowest and current :D , he can just post up the screenie after some gaming , im more interested in his voltages

and you still aint told me why your cpu voltage is so high?

and one more point , the 8800gt has a very skewed fan profile its idle speed by default is 30% and this doesnt increase until your gpu reaches 80 degrees!! God knows why NVidia saw fit to do it like that , i have temperature triggered custom fan profiles set through riva tuner eg it starts at 40% then at 50 degrees goes up to 50% 60 degrees 60% etc , if your having real trpouble with yuor gpu temps i can let you know how to use riva tuner and how to set up custom fan profiles

If he runs it fullscreen then when he gets a BSOD he wont be able to access HWmonitor to see the temps.

If you get a BSOD again or the temps are high then switch of your pc and open the side panel. Then start up the pc but dont touch anything and look and see if all your fans are spinning especially the graphics card one then switch of your pc.

While the side panel is off clean out all the dust from your pc case and route the cables away as neatly as possible then put back on your side panel and start your pc. Then run HWmonitor again and check your temps.

Ok, i've put my pc in an open space, let it cool down for an hour or so and this is what the temperature is now. It really hasn't changed a lot so i think it's caused by the fan. To answer your question bout the CPU voltage archie, I really have no idea. Is it bad to have it that high? And how can I lower it?
EDIT: No I haven't overclocked my pc and I didn't even know you could set the amount of voltage.. this could explain why I also got BSOD's about my BIOS.

I'm going to leave my pc off for the night. Going to clean my pc tomorrow, and I'll see how much the temperature has decreased. Thanks for the help, and I'll keep you updated the moment I know more

he doesnt need to see the temps they will be there when he ends the game the highest recorded temp is permanantly displayed , you recommend this software alot id have thought youd have knwn that

either way high temps dont cause bluescreens unless the ram or core is faulty , however this will let us know what his voltages are doing.

im concerned about your core voltage mate becaus eit already is ubove the stock voltage of 1.325v but this could be due to HW monitor being out or your cpu sensor

and we need a screenshot of your HW monitor AFTER a gaming session offload temps and voltages wont tell us anything

if you dont do as we ask we cant help

also can you upload a copy of your minidump file next time your pc bluescreens

its in your windows folder in a folder called minidump

I can't do what you ask cause it just doesn't work. Once I play 10 mins I crash.
And do you really dont know how I lower the voltage? You asked if I set it that high, so I think I can lower it too. Lastly, how do you upload a copy of the dumpfile? It gives an error when I try to upload the .dmp file
Really I'm trying everything I can =), trust me.

If he's geating BSOD then he will need to reboot which means HWmonitor loses that data.

Beast521 if you can run a game in window mode like i said before then you can have them both open and just look at how your temps are doing while you are playing.

Just clean the pc and route cables away and check fans first before doing anything else.

CPU - RAM - Motherboard

I realise that stew ha ha i didnt realise it was bluescreening so quickly sorry

Dude five minutes of gameplay will do all we need is a snapshot of what is happening to your system while you are gaming.

run HW monitor runyour game for as long as you dare , end game take screenie of hw monitor and post , and persivere with that dmp file upload it to a filesharing site if you have to

i very much doubt hw monitor will tell us anything im thinking your crash is possibly a sotware/driver issue , the dmp file will help with that

Im no expert with dmp i know the very basics files but there is somebody here wh has helped e in the past who is

Alright, first, I cleaned my pc but the temperature hasn't changed a lot: 5 degrees to be exact. Second I posted the screenies from CPU-Z. And Archie, any idea which site I could use best to upload those DMP's?

is the 8800 fan @ 100%..?? (this may have been covered already) & whats the area surrounding the card like..?? is it clear, or is it like a spaghetti junction of cable..??

you'll be surprised how much heat a few loose cables generate by disrupting airflow...
