Frustration grows.
I have a relatively new Gateway FX 7805U running Vista Home Premium x64. I use an external logitech USB wired mouse and a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.
If I restart, I can connect these devices without issue. If I disconnect the devices and then allow the system to sleep, when I wake the computer and attempt to reconnect the devices, they fail to connect.
Perusing the Device manager, there is a yellow icon over the USB Human Interface Device. Checking the properties reveals the issue to be:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory (Code 38).
If I restart, the issue goes away... until the next time I allow the system to sleep.
Since I regularly move the laptop between work and home with apps running, I use the sleep mode frequently. This is becoming quite a pain in the buttocks.
External USB storage and flash drives connect without issue.
Any suggestions?
