Hi all, Being a total newbie to the forum not sure if this should be posted here or hardware. so if its in the wrong place please forgive me.
I have been using the above for a number of years to capture and convert from a Sony camcorder using xp with no problems. I recently bought a new computer with Vista Home Premium x64 with sp 1 installed. Now i can no longer get this to work. I have followed the instructions on the ADS site to the letter and installed the new version of Cap wiz and the new vista beta driver. When i try to update the driver it either says the existing driver is the best there is or an error code 39 whatever that means. Has anyone ever got this to work again under Vista? As there seems to be a lot of people with the same problems and the ADS solution does not solve it. the only number I can find to talk to ads is in the states on PST.
If it is now defunct come somebody recommend a new capture device that is vista compatible.
Hi, sorry I thought I put that in the original question, DVDxpress dx2 is a video capture device used to capture video from an analogue source (i.e) camcorder or video recorder, via usb or scart lead etc. to enable it to be edited and converted converted to dvd format using Ulead or some other similar software. You can then burn it to dvd watch it on a normal dvd player. It is manufactured by ADS tech based in the USA
Cap wiz is the program that DVDxpressdx2 uses to perform the capture function
My computer is a Packard Bell I Xtreme x9610, 233Ghz Intel core 2 quad Q8200
with 4 Mb ram. Brand New.
The ADS TECH Site has Instructions to down load a New version of Cap wiz which is Vista compatible and a Vista beta driver, but by reading others experiences it dosn't work. I have followed the instruction sheet to the letter and the new driver wont install. The tech support wasnt much help either as i was advised to get another Xp computer. Or look for a new capture device that is Vista Compatible.
You're basically being told that the program isn't compatible with Vista x64. You could try compatibility mode to see if the program will work. Right click the program/driver and choose "Properties", click "Compatibility" tab, and choose "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" then choose Windows XP.
You could also try running it in Administrator mode as well. It may or may not work, but you gave it a try
Hi, I have been running it in XP mode. but it still says the driver you have is the best there is. When clearly it isnt. i need to be able to force it to accept a new driver.
If not, i may have to Invest in a different capture device thatis vista compatible
