I have a 1320 connected via USB to a Vista 64 box on a LAN. The LAN contains several XP Pro boxes and though the printer is shared I can't find a proper driver when I try to connect to it. Just keeps telling me no suitable driver found. I've tried adding an x86 driver on the Vista machine but it can't find the correct driver (I have tried pointing it directly to the HP Vista64 and a XP folder I unzipped XP drivers into). I'll connect it to an XP machine if I need to, but this shouldn't be such a PITA...
Thank you for the reply. The Vista64 box the printer is hooked to (via USB) has no issues printing and the drivers installed just fine. It's the XP boxes on the LAN that can see the shared printer but can't install drivers for it from the Vista64 box or locally. All attempts to load drivers for the XP boxes fails saying it can't find suitable drivers... as does the "add drivers" routine in the printer properties when I try to add x86 drivers in Vista.
Oh...your 1st post sounded like you were trying to load the x86 XP drivers on the Vista 64 machine...heheh. Now I see you're trying to point the XP machine to the folder in Vista where it can find the proper XP x86 drivers but it can't seem to find them properly. That's more like it
Now that is odd, it "should" have no problems loading those drivers...even the generic printer drivers in XP should work here or at least XP should be able to check WinUpdate for proper drivers for that model. Can't even load them locally? Have you tried allowing XP's Add New Hardware wizard to detect the printer and install drivers, or are you cancelling that and trying to go manually here?
