G'day,
I have an issue with one part of the Personalize setup, that I cannot resolve. Some time ago [I don't know how or when], the touch-pad on my Laptop became 'inactive'....I can't use it. The device shows up in all the right places as being OK, but I have been unable to find a locale where I can re-activate it.
When in Personalize, I click on to the Mouse settings section, I get this attached error message. The window for changing settings for my wireless mouse appears, once I have checked out the OK. Any thoughts?

And the Solution was?
.....right in front of my rather large proboscis! Plain bloody common sense..
First. Go to; Control Panel>Programs and Features[Classic View]>Synaptics Pointing Device Driver[Right click]>Uninstall.
Second. Go to; http://www.synaptics.com/ >Support and Driver Downloads>Drivers><Select your system>Run or Save etc.
That's it! No sweat!
And the second part is; Read your PC or Notebook User Guide!
After doing the above, the Touchpad was still not working. So today, I decided to go back to basics and consult my Acer Aspire User Guide......the solution at last!Somewhere in the mists of time, Fossilised had turned the thing OFF!
My system has the function where the Touchpad can be activated or disabled, by use of Hotkeys.
Hot Keys> Touchpad Toggler> press keys, <Fn>+<F7>, and presto! You can now turn your Touchpad on and off at will.
I'm off now to buy a new used brain.
