Anyone get a windows update for Atheros NIC?
last time they issued an update for this, i trusted microsoft, and ended up reinstalling my system, because the update messed with my syntax files...
if anyone says this is safe i'll download it..

if anyone else has problem with windows atheros driver

what happens is ... theres something with the update (??) and it corrupts the firmware of your lan device

the way to fix it is ...

turn off computer, unplug computer from main power (wall socket)
leave it unplugged for about a minute
plug in again and away you go

(this resets the firmware and problem solved)

also to stop it from happening again

turn off auto update
search for updates manually
when it finds atheros update, right click on it and select Hide Update
then you can turn auto updates back on again

and away you go

i had this problem fixed it as above has never bothered me again

strange that it didnt work for you

worked for me and about 3 other people that had some problem that i know of

oh well glad the second part helped ya and your problem has been fixed
