Vista 64 Ultimate keeps Crashing

There seems to be no specific software running or conditions that I recognize that is causing this to happen. I've tried testing memory and getting latest updates but system is NOT reliable. I have noticed that as long as I am not running any programs and system is idle, no Blue Screen. It happens mostly when running Chrome or using Nero software. I am including the file that was mentioned that may be helpful. If there are any questions please contact me.

which file in the zip describes the problem?

What are you doing in Nero when the crash occurs? Does the system shut down or do you get a BSOD?

I uploaded this file because of other messages in this forum suggested and provided the program and procedure to perform in order to post and get help in this forum.

In Nero I am either recoding files or attempting to make DVD from mp4 movie files. There seems not to be anything in particular that causes the BSOD - It can happen anytime, even just using window's explorer. I am not sure but beginning to suspect that it may be video related. It happens while sometimes watching You Tube videos. I will try using a different video card and see what happens.

And let me say Thanks for you help and concern.

I'm curious about what your system is, especially the video card. I have a Dell workstation that does that and the only way to stop it is to revert back to the factory settings.

I don't have time at the moment to look at your files.

I took a look at your dump files and a common problem is the hal.dll. As a first crack, I suggest opening a CMD Prompt as the administrator and then running SFC /scannow. If it finds and fixes anything, reboot and run it again.

Thanks again. I'm using an Abit AW9D-Max MB, QX6700 CPU, 8g Crucial DDR2 PC6400, EVGA GTX 285 2g. I tried replacing video card with an ASUS EN210 but no luck - system could not even post. I believe there is a conflict between video card and MB bios. I reverted to a lower bios version and will see if trouble exisrs with the EVGA GTX 285. I will let you know results.

On the system where I get the similar problem, the file identified in the BSOD is always an NVIDIA .sys file. I don't remember the exact one right now.

However, I didn't see any mention of a video card file being a problem in your .dmp files. The latest ones were the ntoskrnl.dll and the hal.dll. The first one is crucial to running the system so it may be that you need to reinstall Vista. That would probably fix any other.dll files (I did see some others but not in the most recent .dmp files). However, running the SFC /scannow will often times find and fix .dll files. I don't see where you tried it.
