Computer chrashes every time showing BSOD. Help please!

Hi. my dad just gave me his old computer, its a Hewlett-Packard a6650la with Intel Core2 Quad CPU, Ram: 4.00GB with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit, Service pack 2.

The problem is that the computer runs fine for a while, but suddenly it chrashes showing the BSOD saying:

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as cachring or shodowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

I have not installed any new hardware or software. When the BSOD appears the computer restart automatically when you move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard. Sometimes it restarts succesfully but sometimes it doesnt.

The best thing to do is download bluescreenviewer and run it. The main cause of the problem should show up in the first few lines.

It could be the graphics card is overheating but that usually results in a different blue screen. If the cpu is overheating, the system doesn't usually blue screen. It wouldn't hurt to check to make sure all the vents and fans are clean.

I'd just like to note that out of that list more than likely 1, 4, or 5 applies to you. Try 1 First. Number 3 won't apply to you because the boot.ini file was discontinued in Vista.
